Man Captures Video Of Strange Explosion In The Sky
A Sacramento man scanning the night sky caught a sudden burst of light through his telescope. He recorded that strange sight with his smart phone.
CBS13 shared the video with experts to see if they could solve the mystery.
This mysterious little tale begins earlier this week when Good Day Sacramento's Cody Stark got this message on Facebook: "I have something on video no one has ever seen. I had my telescope out, caught an explosion in space. Wanna see the video?"
Cody's response? Absolutely!
The video was shot with an iPhone through the eyepiece of a telescope, so CBS13 had to enlarge it to get a better look. It was shot on Dec. 20 around 5 p.m. in Sacramento by viewer Elijah Prychodzko.
"I saw something that I'd never seen before. I saw another object orbiting this — whatever it was up there, and I've never seen anything like that before," said Prychodzko.
He thought it was a little strange so he put his phone down, called his nephew, and then returned to shoot a second video clip.
"Oh my God, it just blew up. Something blew up," he's heard saying on the video.
"As soon as I put the camera to the telescope it just blew up and I didn't know what to say," he told CBS13.
So Cody sent the video off to Dr. Stephen P Maran, who wrote the book Astronomy for Dummies.
Dr. Maran responded by saying he didn't recognize the "explosion" as a known astronomical phenomenon. "My personal opinion is that it is not an astronomical event," he wrote.
Whatever it was, it was almost never seen by Dr. Maran or anyone else — because Prychodzko nearly sold it on Craigslist.
"Almost got rid of it a week before. I was trying to sell it on Craigslist and I was getting offers and, man, you know what, at this time I'm glad I didn't sell it," he said.

We checked out the mysterious spheres for ourselves today, and they were still there. They're like gooey marbles that ooze out a water substance when we squish them. They roll, they shine, and they're out of this world.
Geradine was dying to know what they were, and so were we.
We spoke to Darlene Buhrow, director of marketing at Tucson Botanical Gardens, who's husband is a botanist. He said if these are something naturally occurring, they could be a slime mold or jelly fungus.

Grieving Dolphin Carries Dead Calf Around For Days, Seen During Dana Point Whale Watching Safari
Whale watchers aboard Captain Dave's Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari had an unexpected and heartbreaking encounter with a pod of bottlenose dolphins yesterday. A deceased dolphin calf was being carried by an adult bottlenose dolphin on its back.
"I believe this calf has been dead for many days, possibly weeks," explains Capt. Dave Anderson, "you can see the flesh is decaying. In my nearly twenty years on the water whale watching I have never seen this behavior. Nor have I ever seen anything quite as moving as this mother who refuses to let go of her poor calf."
This video sends a powerful message about how much a dolphin can care. It is a window into a dolphins heart. This animal is laboring under the strain of carrying this dead animal on its back day and night is probably keeping it near the surface so the departed dolphin can breathe. We can assume this because dolphins do not normally swim with their dorsal fins sticking out of the water continuously like this bottlenose did. We can only imagine what happened; over half of all bottlenose calves die from disease and predators before their second birthday, and since we know that the family unit in dolphin pods is the mother and calf, this is almost certainly a mother and calf pair. Did mom start off helping her weak, sick offspring swim to the surface to breathe for days till the tiny dolphin died? When will she give up on her calf? Will she continue carrying her deceased on her back until the carcass begins to disintegrate? This poor grieving mother dolphin takes us, without words, to a place where as one of our passengers said in the video "humans and dolphins are not so different."
The pair were surrounded by other dolphins, almost as if they were being protected, during this profoundly sad time. The dolphin was seen an hour later by another boat still carrying the calf.
Scientists estimate that 308,000 dolphins and whales die every year worldwide because of fishing gear entanglement. Captain Dave organized Orange County's first whale disentanglement group in 2008 and has successfully disentangled several gray whales, including Lily, whose disentanglement made national headlines. Capt. Dave authored the award winning book, "Lily, A Gray Whale's Odyssey", a magnificent photographic journey of a gray whale's migration.

Police: 'Dog attack' victim Jade Anderson was alone
The 14-year-old was found with wounds consistent with a dog attack at a house near Wigan in Greater Manchester on Tuesday afternoon.
She is understood to have been visiting the property in Chaucer Grove, Atherton, and was alone with four dogs – believed to be two bull mastiffs and two Staffordshire bull terriers – which were later shot by police marksmen. A fifth dog was contained at the scene.
Superintendent Mark Kenny of Greater Manchester Police said officers were faced with a "very tragic scene" at the house and that the teenager's friends and family were "devastated" by her death.
"There are a number of detectives now working on piecing together the events of yesterday afternoon and we'll obviously work out exactly what happened. The most likely scenario is that Jade was attacked by four dogs, but that is still part and parcel of the investigation," he said.

A woman from Serbia sees the world upside down because of a rare brain condition called spatial orientation phenomenon.
Bojana Danilovic, 28, has to turn her TV, books and newspapers upside down because her brain does not process images in the normal way.
The council worker's condition means that while her eyes see the world the right way up, her brain then flips the image.
Harvard University experts diagnosed her with spatial orientation phenomenon. Other cases involve people who read or write upside down, but the rest of the world remains the right way up.
"They don't really seem to know exactly how it happens, just that it does and where it happens in my brain," Danilovic said.

Snake Blamed for burning down home
Authorities believe a homeowners response to finding a

Wednesday.
The fire sparked at a home on Will Smith Road in the Liberty Eylau area of Bowie County TX just before 7 p.m.
While cleaning up she saw snake threw gasoline on the snake lit
the snake on fire said Deputy Randall Baggett with the Bowie County
Sheriffs Office. The snake went into the brush pile and the brush pilecaught the home on fire.
Despite the efforts of several fire departments that responded to thescene the flames completely engulfed the home. It is a complete loss. Aneighboring home was also damaged on one side.
The fire remains under investigation.

Raw Footage Meteor Over Manhattan East Coast Fireball 3-22-2013
In New York, some observers reported seeing the meteor low in the sky as it streaked from west to east across the night sky.
"It shot over Manhattan and broke up over the East Village," observer Ross E. of New York City wrote in his fireball report to the meteor society. In fact, the meteor streaked across hundreds of miles and was visible from many states along the Eastern Seaboard.
According to Lunsford, meteors often appear closer than they actually are due to the observer's perspective.
Fireballs occur every day and are typically caused by small space rocks about the size of a basketball disintegrating as they streak through Earth's atmosphere, officials with NASA's Asteroid Watch outreach program wrote in a Twitter post.
On Feb. 15, a bus-size meteor exploded over Russia near the city of Chelyabinsk, shattering windows in hundreds of buildings and injuring nearly 1,500 people. That rare meteor explosion, which scientists have classified as a superbolide, was the most powerful in more than a century, NASA scientists said.

Police search for young suspects after Georgia infant shot, killed in stroller
Police responding to a 911 call in southeastern Georgia found a baby boy shot dead and a mother with a leg wound Thursday morning.
The incident in Brunswick prompted a search for two young male suspects, one between 13 and 15 years old, and the other possibly as young as 10.
While the mother said she was the victim of an attempted robbery, police said they had not identified a motive so far. They did not provide any other details of the alleged crime, other than to say that after the "senseless act," both suspects fled on foot.
The mother, who was treated and released from a hospital, told CNN affiliate WAWS that she was walking her 13-month-old in his stroller Thursday morning when the two youths approached her and demanded money.
"He said, 'I am going to kill you if you don't give me your money,'" said Sherry West. She said she insisted she had no cash so the older boy shot her in the leg.
"He says, 'Well, I am going to kill your baby.'"
She tried to shield the baby, but the boy shoved her away and shot the infant in the head, she said.
CNN affiliate WJXT reported the baby died at the scene.
No weapon was recovered at the scene in a residential neighborhood, Police chief Tobe Green told reporters. City Manager Bill Weeks said no other witnesses have come forward.
"This is obviously just a terrible day in the city of Brunswick," Mayor Bryan Thompson said at a news conference, "and made even more terrible by the senseless killing of a young child and it appears perpetrated by children themselves."

Man shoots into Asian food store in Philadelphia, wounds 3

Philadelphia police are still trying to find a man who fired into an Asian food store and wounded three people on Tuesday night. Several young men scrambled to hold the door shut from inside. The gunman was able to push open the door far enough to fire several shots, wounding three of the men inside. The surveillance video appears to show him shooting more shots through the door before he ran away. Investigators say a total of 10 shots were fired, and the shooter fled when he ran out of ammunition.
T.J Lane GETS LIFE For Ohio School Shooting
CHARDON, Ohio — Defiant Teen Wearing a T-shirt with "killer" scrawled across it, a teenager cursed and gestured obscenely as he was given three life sentences for Ohio school shooting Tuesday for shooting to death three students in an Ohio high school cafeteria.
T.J. Lane, 18, had pleaded in Ohio School Shooting guilty last month to shooting at students in February 2012 at Chardon High School, east of Cleveland. Investigators have said he admitted to the shooting but said he didn't know why he did it.
Before the case went to adult court last year, a juvenile court judge ruled that Lane was mentally competent to stand trial despite evidence he suffers from hallucinations, psychosis and fantasies.
Lane was defiant during the sentencing, smiling and smirking throughout, including while four relatives of victims spoke.
After he came in, he calmly unbuttoned his blue dress shirt to reveal the T-shirt reading "killer," which the prosecutor noted was similar to one he wore during the shooting.
At one point, he swiveled around in his chair toward the gallery where his own family members and those of the slain teenagers were sitting and spoke suddenly, surprising even his lawyer.
"The hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory," he said, then cursed at and raised his middle finger toward the victims' relatives.
A statement released later to local media by the court on the judge's behalf said that he wasn't aware of the shirt and that if he had noticed it he would have halted the proceedings and ordered Lane to wear proper attire.
A student who was wounded in the rampage dismissed Lane's outburst.
"He said it like a scared little boy and couldn't talk slow enough that anyone could understand him," said Nate Mueller, who was nicked in the ear in the shooting.
Dina Parmertor, mother of victim Daniel, called Lane "a pathetic excuse for a human being" and wished upon him "an extremely, slow torturous death." She said she has nightmares and her family has been physically sick over the crimes.
"From now on, he will only be a killer," she said, as Lane's smile widened. "I want him to feel my anger toward him."
Prosecutors say Lane took a .22-caliber pistol and a knife to the school and fired 10 shots at a group of students in the cafeteria. Daniel Parmertor and Demetrius Hewlin, both 16, and Russell King Jr., 17, were killed.
Lane was at Chardon waiting for a bus to the alternative school he attended, for students who haven't done well in traditional settings.
Six days before the rampage, Lane had sent a text message to his sister, who attended Chardon High school, and mentioned a school shooting, Geauga County Prosecutor James Flaiz disclosed after the sentencing. He gave no details about what the message said.
"The way the text message was phrased to his sister, I'm not sure she would have taken it as anything. I think only when you look at it in retrospect does it really have the impact that it does now," Flaiz said.
Lane's sister, Sadie, was in the cafeteria the day of the shooting, and said outside the snow-swept courthouse that the brother she saw in court wasn't the one she remembers. She asked for prayers for her family.
"It may be hard for some to understand, but I love my brother and hope that whatever the sentencing in life takes him in the future, that he can touch others' lives in a positive way from the point of view that only he can give," she said.
She spoke and left the courthouse before Flaiz addressed reporters.
Flaiz said he has a theory about the motive but wouldn't discuss it until he has a chance to meet with the families of victims and answer their questions.
Lane's courtroom behavior came as a surprise, he added.
"I am totally disgusted by that," Flaiz said. "What he did today is consistent with what we thought of him all along."
One of Lane's defense attorneys, Ian Friedman, also said he was caught off-guard by the comments. The defense had signaled earlier that Lane wouldn't speak in court and didn't want anyone to speak for him.
Lane had pleaded guilty last month to three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault.
Life imprisonment without parole was the maximum sentence Lane faced. He wasn't eligible for the death penalty because he was 17 at the time of the shootings. Relatives of the slain students indicated earlier they wanted Lane to get the maximum sentence.
In addition to three life sentences without chance of parole, Geauga County Common Pleas Judge David Fuhry also gave Lane sentences totaling 37 additional years for attempted murder and felonious assault and using a weapon in the crimes.

Rumors about the Chupacabras have gained strength as a result of the death of a large number of sheep on a property belonging to a political representative of that province. Yesterday, at 5:00 a.m., when workers arrived at the property, they found dozens of dead sheep with injuries to their necks. Others had bled to death. Nearly 42 animals were lifeless and another 10 injured. The possibility that the death toll would increase over time was not dismissed.
Congressman Valentin Suárez, the owner of the farm, reported that the flock’s size was 200. The premises where the sheep pens are located near the Palmerola Air Base. The congressman noted that while he has dogs and watchmen, there was no noise at night that alerted anyone to the presence of strange animals within the property.
“This is the first time such a situation has taken place in the area, and not finding a cause worries us, since there are no predators in Comayagua valley,” said Suárez.

Rowan O'Neil was a the checkout when his night was about to be turned upside down.A child's mother rushed to the check-out with her limp baby in her arms - the toddler was not breathing.
Over the next 12 minutes, O'Neil fought to bring the baby back to life as the checkout became a make-shift emergency table.
Paramedics were called and were advising over the phone as O'Neil instinctively applied first aid lessons learned as a school student from more than a decade before.

The Town that spent 25 Years Underwater
This is Villa Epecuen, an old tourist town south of Buenos Aires that spent a quarter of a century underwater. Established in the 1920s on the banks of a salt lake, the town was home to over 5,000 residents and a holiday destination to thousands more vacationers from the Argentinian capital.
In 1985, a dam burst and buried the town in 33 feet of salt water, rendering it a modern-day Atlantis. Initially, people waited on their roofs, hoping for the water to recede. It didn’t, and within two days, the place was a devastated ghost town.
In 2009, the waters began to recede and what emerged resembles an apocalyptic world.
Evenly-spaced dead trees still line what used to be streets, rusty bed frames poke out from concrete rubble and sign posts point to nowhere.

World's largest natural flower garden opens in Dubai
Another week, another announcement of a massive super project in Dubai.
The Middle Eastern city's latest mega-project is the Dubai Miracle Garden.
Billing itself as the world's largest natural flower garden, the 72,000-square-meter attraction, located in Dubailand, has more than 45 million flowers.
The name is apt, considering this mega-garden was -– like pretty much everything in Dubai –- built on desert land.
According to a report in Gulfnews.com, Miracle Gardens' landscaper, Akar, says it wants to demonstrate "that it’s possible to green the desert through judicious re-use of waste water, through drip irrigation.”
The U.A.E.-based company is also planting trees on the perimeter as windbreakers.
Though the gardens are now open to visitors, the attraction isn't complete. Shopping outlets, restaurants and plant nurseries will be added during the second development phase, which kicks off mid-2013.
The gardens will be closed during Dubai's notoriously hot summer months. Temperatures average 40 C (104 F) from June to September -- not exactly conducive to flower gazing.

Touching and Dramatic MOMENT Rescuers Form Human Chain To Save Boy from the Sea in NZ: The father of a New Zealand boy pulled from powerful surf by brave locals who formed a human chain has thanked rescuers for saving his son's life. 12-year-old Joshua McQuoid was playing with two friends at a Napier beach when he was caught by a wave and dragged deeper into the water by a vice-like undertow.
Vision shot by a young bystander showed frantic beach goers, led by a German tourist, and police officers trying desperately to pull the boy from heavy surf but with no success.
Only after people linked arms to form a 12-strong human chain than held fast, were two police officers at the front able to grab the boy and throw him towards the shore.
Joshua was inched clear of the break and carried to the beach unconscious before being revived with first aid.
His father Shane McQuoid says Joshua is recovering physically but was still "shaken up" from the experience, which he'd told his dad was like being in a washing machine.
Mr McQuoid told Radio New Zealand he was so thankful to "each and every person" who helped pull Joshua out alive.

The previous record was made by a Chinese in 2009 by piercing 2011 needles. After watching that event he was very enthusiastic to break that record one day and he did it on December 3rd 2011 in Scarborough in front of many supporters, witnesses and the video recording. Dr. Paul Joseph was beside him and keeps on checking his heart beat often.
Mohan is 37 years old family man, from the village of "Moolaai" in Jaffna Sri Lanka currently living in Toronto, Canada. He is very ambitious from his young age to do some adventures and expose his hidden talent. The entire Tamil community should be proud about Mr. Mohan's great deal.
